hi guys, help is needed with my rubbish boiler.
We\\\'ve had this boiler in our flat since it was built in March 00, and we have a regular january problem with it in that when we sometimes want hot water, or the CH comes on the boiler makes a horrible grating/grinding noise ending with a couple of small bangs and a lockout. this repeats every one or two days or so. some steam flys out the vent outside and then the hot water is REALLY hot.
In Jan 04 we had a/some Sentinel X100 inhibitor added which initially helped but the old problem comes back. Does it need a repair, say new heat exchange or something a bit more serious.
Thanks in advance. Kevin.

Mechanical grating is most likely to be the fan, unless you're hearing water boiling in there?

SOunds like the pump could be sticking - or a poor connection which usually means the pcb.

Yes thanks guys, more trouble this morning.
I can't hear water boiling in there but after it locks out it makes a quiet humming noise and then locks out again, without the grating noise. seems like overheating because the radiators are HOT HOT HOT. I then turned off the boiler today to let it cool down and try again tonight. Seems as though i'll have to get a plumber out!

don't know the title but, "its getting hot in here, so take off all your clothes!"

Hi

Did you ever find out what was wrong with your boiler?

Mine is doing the same thing and I would like some idea of the problem before I call someone in.

Pip.
