Potterton Suprima 60 - Continuous flashing red status light

I have a potterton suprima 60 which is about 8/9 years old. 3 years ago I had the pcb replaced. Last year TVR's were fitted to the 12 rediators. Lately its had occassional failures where it would lock out displaying a red light. After resetting it would work for a couple of weeks without fault. There has also been occassions where banging noises have been heard in the boiler. Today the banging was heard again and the boiler tripped out showing a red light. After the reset was pressed (during which time the red light flashed 3 times) I now have a continuous rapidly flashing red light. The boiler however seems to be working normally dispute still showing this continuous rapidly flashing red light. Any ideas?

how have you checked the pump?
