Potterton Suprima 80

I don't think this question has been asked before, apologies if it has.

My Potterton has decided to get no further than the power on checks and sits with just the red light on fixed.

I had thought that this problem would be a PCB failure so both soldered the original and ordered a replacement board, with no change.

I have replaced the spark electrode and tested the temp control (switch and potentiometr seem ok) & o/heat switch, which is still closed, the temp thermistor seems good but not 100% sure of the values.

The air switch works, although sequence doesn't get far enough for the fan to run.

Any ideas what the fixed red LED is telling me (possibly temp has already been reached or gas pressure valves?).

I have a room control thermostat for CH but attempting to rectify on HW only.

Any pointers appreciated.

fixed red light tells you that there is no call for heat to the boiler i.e it is in standby mode and there is no power to the switched live electrical connection check your motorised valve or programmer

A quick round up of what I've got and what I need to check if you don't mind to assist in my fault finding please?

AC 240v is presented at the LN&E domino block below the PCB from the mains supply

and

AC 160v (or perhaps DC) is presented at the water pump L & SWL contacts on the domino block from the PCB. All contained within a 5 core cable that appears to be routed to/from the programmer? This runs during the few seconds cycle on start up

The gas valve has AC 160v (or again perhaps DC) across the red & black
(top and bottom cores) There is no noticeable movement, vibration across the motor or valve.

Do you know what are the pin assignments on the 5 motor pins to check for continuity? Seems to be about 1300 ohm wherever I test but don't know exactly what I'm testing.

Now now Bob even a smartass like you knows there is no voltage in continuity testing or do you?

I required pin numbers to check the motor winding.

if you got no heating check everything from the junction box, programmer live first, then thermostat. if you have 240v out of the stat and nothing on the orange wire of the motorized valve suspect valve motor. If your pump is running but your boiler isn't then it may be worth taking the cover off.
