I have become a bit stuck with the process of trying to get a couple of Western power Poles removed from my land.

The Good

Got in touch with WP and they have given me an itemised quote to remove the poles. Great

The Not so good

The poles also carry Openreach telecoms, the quote made no mention of the telecom removal. When I contatced WP they said that they will not deal with telecoms and I have to arrange with Openreach seperately.

The Fun begins

I contatced Openreach... They will not give me a quote without paying £364 for a survey. They won't even give me any indication if it will be prohibitly expensive. However, they seem to suggest that as they are WP poles then WP should be dealing with them direct (and they even seem to indicate that they would give WP a "free" quote but not me)?

The Dead End

I have gone back to WP and explained the Openreach situation but they are totally refusing to engage with openreach.

I would be most grateful if anyone can give me any advice?

Are the OpenReach cables all overhead or is there an under ground cable running to and up the pole ?

If there is an underground cable crossing you land then in theory there should be a wayleave agreement in place for that length of cable.

Ask OpenReach if they can produce a copy of the Wayleave. At the same time offer OpenReach the possibility of you granting a Wayleave for the re-cabling with further underground cables ( in place of the dropwires from post to properties ) when the poles are removed.
