One of the guys I used to work with sent me this link, was wondering if anyone out there had experience of these units and whether they really do work.

Sounds good, insurance backed guarantee and all that....anyone have one or used one??

Come on, pull the other one - converts your wiring "to a 'high energy rating' circuit"?! Damn, if I'd known about this years ago then think about all the money I could have saved by using 1mmsq cable for 200A submains and simply plugging in one of these devices to increase the rating of the circuit.

I really wouldn't waste your money, if anything it will probably contain a capacitor for Power Factor Correction. It's still a waste of money for household use, as your meter measures active power (kW), not kVA, so there's no saving to be had. However, if you're an industrial customer then PFC can reduce costs by reducing your maximum demand.
