I have several 22mm copper pipes in my central heating system that I need to cut into to clean due to blockages. The pipes have previously been painted with what looks like a metallic paint or finish and are located in the airing cupboard. Any advice on removing the paint especially the part of the pipes that will remain and therefore difficult to get behind to clean

Try gripping the pipe gently with pliers/grips and move tool around a bit. I tried this after seeing a plumber do it and was surprised how well the pain just flaked off.
