Hi

We are renovating the floor in our conservatory and then plastic skirting is covered with old paint. What is the best way to clean it off please, will white spirit be adequate or should I use something else?

thanks Dit

Agree, just replace it with wood this time though. Comes pre-primed if that's what you choose.

Thanks for the replies but replacing the skirting is not an option. I need to find how to clean the old paint from the plastic skirting, it is not totally covered, just the odd brush stroke where the adjacent wall was incompetently painted.

more than likely will be emulsion so a scourer and hot soapy water should do the trick.

If you can find a PVC ( roofline etc.) stockist - they have trade strength cleaner @ around £4 . It`s brilliant and will revive uPVC

If a plastic scouring pad fails to shift old dried-on emulsion, try very very hot water or even steam if you can apply it safely. It works well in loosening it, then it can be scoured off.
