Hi,

We need to put some rads in our two loft rooms but have been told that because the expansion tank is in there it won't work which makes sense. It has been suggested that we move to a pressurised heating system which will sort this which again makes sense.

One question though - our CH piping is quite convoluted due to the age of the house which currently means some rads take a while to warm whilst others don't take any time at all - will a pressurised system resolve this ? and if not will adding more rads make it worse ?

The boiler is a 100k btu system boiler and all rads downstairs are new and we intend to replace all rads upstairs too.

Thank you.

Thinking of going with a combination heat store that is compatible with a sealed heating system. This should address another issue which is the hot water pressure without resorting to an unvented system.

Still not sure about a sealed / pressurised heating system though - can someone comment that this is (or not) the way to go to ensure even heat distribution and heating of additional loft rads - thank you.

1. It won't automatically provide more evenly distributed heat. For that you need to balance the system, and make sure that nowhere are several radiators connected together with pipe of 15mm diameter or less.
2. It will obviate the problem of radiators in loft not heating properly.
3. There is a small risk that moving to a pressurised system will cause leaks in the existing system. As you are going to install new radiators the risk is pretty small but it does exist.
