Printer has died

Anyone have any advice as to what may be wrong with my printer.
Epson Sylus C44 Plus.
The red and green lights are flashing, initially changed ink cartridges and cleaned the heads at which time paper was passing through the machine. Now is does not print and when you turn it on the ink cartridge 'thingy'does not come out across the paper. Have tried various troubleshooting stuff off the computer but nothing happening.
Would it worth repairing or should we just ditch it and get something else.

Unless under warranty, I wouldn't consider any inkjet for repair.

Dont know how old your printer is but I have heard of Epson's playing up after so many prints due to "waste ink pad cleaning" request.
This has nothing to do with cartridge pads .. these are inside the printer.
The counter has to be reset too. Try this for starters.

Thanks for your response but the printer has now gone to printer heaven - we gave up and replaced it with a new one, HP photosmart something or other! I now realise how slow the old printer was, how noisy it was and how right my children were about the rubbish print quality. The new one is also great for my daughters photography coursework.
