Problem with screw fit light fitting

I have a couple of very nice light fittings each with a cluster of 3 bulbs. The bulbs are scew fit and work fine to start with but after a few hours start to flicker. I then tighten alittle more and they work then flicker again later until eventually they stop working altogether. Is this problem solvable

Hello Tom,

Have you had a look to see if the centre 'contact' has not been pressed down too far ? Make sure the power is off completely and raise the contacts a bit maybe ? I hope the fitting allows you to have a look and work on them without taking them down !!!!

Replace the lamp holders.

I've come across a similar problem on a couple of occasions.

The fitting took SES lamps and they had GE ones fitted, swapped them out for Osram and everything worked fine.

I guess GE lamps aren't what they were!
