A central heating company has suggested installing the following bits and pieces to replace my dying, old conventional system:

1. Worcester Bosch 30CDi
2. Honeywell wireless thermostat
3. Magnaclean
4. Scale reducer
5. Mira Minilite shower
6. Honeywell TRVs and lockshields
7. Stelrad radiators

Are theese fairly good components for a CH system? Is the Magnaclean and scale reducer worth having?

The overal quote came out at over £4,200 for a 3-bed semi and includes a Powerflush and the above components.

Looks fair kit at a fair price to me! just make sure the contractor
a) is Gas Safe Registered
b) Holds Public Liabillity insurance of at least £2M
c) comes recommended by a trusted source

as you have mentioned powerflush, i take it this is an existing pipework arrangement. id guess old gravity system being upgraded to pressurised system, hence the shower. magnaclean etc.

Some answers:

- Yes, the price includes VAT

- I think the old system is a gravity-fed system. The current shower is a power-shower

- Most of the pipework will be existing pipework (to the rads). Several rads will have to be re-routed to the 'correct' positions under the windows

- The installer is Gas Safe registered and will supply a certificate and benchmark logbook

- The installer has a 100% rating on MyBuilder but he's not a personal recommendation

- The price also includes 5-years parts and labour warranty on the WD boiler and a 10-year guarantee for the PowerFlush
