Protecting a driveway

I'm got a load of soil and earth to get rid of and am planning a grab lorry due to the amount. What can i put down to protect our block paved driveway? I don't have any boards and all those I've seen are £15 each, and I'd need 8/10/more

what other options do i have to protect it? Someone mentioned a thick tarpaulin but I'm unsure if the grab would scoop that up too and scratch up the driveway

If you are going to need 10 boards, that suggests a sizeable project of some sort that could be costing a fair whack. If you buy boards, you may be able to sell them on afterwards. £150 v a new block paved driveway. Hmmm....

We use 18mm ply on top of lorry tarps. A tarp on its own will end up in the back of the grabber.
