Protecting the cabinet under the sink

Last night I realised we had a leak under the sink. It's not something I want to experience again. I can see there are various products that can be used to protect the base of the cabinet from spills, e.g:

I like the first one, but cant find it in the size I need in this country (560mm x 560mm or 22in x 22in). There seem to be a few good options in the states, that are not available here.

Good kitchen fitters seal the sink cabinet seems with silicone so to make it survive a couple of floods.
