PSA down, but...

76 year old Mate was over 200 was told to expect the worst as in spread elsewhere two years on its less than 1 and he is a picture of health
is that from drug treatment?

200 is massively high -at those sort of levels doctors expect secondaries, usually bone

GP phone appointment yesterday, in regards to PSA and a renal consultant phone appointment this morning....

Yesterdays appointment, was preceded by an unexpected call from the surgery, saying they wanted me to make an appointment to discuss my blood pressure and do yet another weeks worth of home readings, so I asked if I could include the discussion with the PSA appointment, rather than an extra appointment and it was agreed.

GP appointment - the doc sounded quite concerned that my PSA level was above the new reference level, but after I had reminded I had the intensive check two years ago and I had zero symptoms of prostrate problems then and zero symptoms now, it was pointless pursuing based on being slightly over the level.

Then we moved onto my BP. My home readings showed me just above what they call acceptable, so he wanted to put me on increased meds, to bring it down a bit more. I then pointed out that several years ago they had investigated my too regular migraine issues, MRI brain scans etc. and they had determined that in the distant past I'd had a very minor stroke and I had a narrowed artery feeding the left side of my brain. Outcome was, that consultant wanted my BP to be maintained a little on the high side - 150 to 160 to keep the artery open.

Today, the renal consultant rang and said my renal function level was quite stable now, but they were concerned about my suddenly increased potassium level, from the blood tests last week. He wanted me to have more urgent blood tests, within the next couple of days, either at the hospital or at the GP. I elected to get it done at my GP - I;m just waiting for them to ring back with an appointment, once they get the consultants letter. That will make it three lots of blood tests, in a bit over a week -yikes!
