Hi all.

My mate runs my local in Ealing.

The fire alarm unit will periodically start bleeping. He thinks that the internal battery might be on its last legs. It shows a "general" error and beeps until the staff press reset or silence.

Is it probable that the internal battery is in decline?

And if so, can anyone recommend a decent replacement battery?

Thanks

The battery, is there to ensure that even during a power cut, the alarm system will continue to work, and should there be a fire, the alarm can be sounded. If it is bleeping, then likely the battery has failed, and needs to be replaced.

Tanya a good cheap source for such batteries. Yuasa are a good make, but the panel will need to be opened up, to check the model. Common, are the 12v 6aH.

Perhaps sensible to get the unit looked at and dare I say serviced. Bound to be some fire regulation codes that the insurance companies would love to latch onto to avoid paying out if there was a fire.

There are some internal LED indicators according to the manual below
