I am replacing a ballast and I can not get the wires off. The instructions say to press in and twist but they ain't moving. Does anybody know how?
Thanks in advance.

They can be very hard to get out. Is there enough slack in the wires to allow cutting the old ones off just as they go into the terminal, stripping off the insulation and fitting the new ballast that way?

I've found that inserting a small jewellers screwdriver above the wire to lift the spring tang does the job.

if the ballasts broke anyway then physically break off the connecter block, the wires then fall out

That's my starting point for failed units. I remember only too well messing about trying to get them out until I came across one which had got very hot and brittle.
If the terminals stick out I start by crushing with 5 holes as shown:

Thank you everyone for your advice. It turns out that brute force was the way forward.
