Great website - read (and learnt) loads - thanks.

I am planning to replace an existing bath this weekend. The connections are similar but not identical to the existing which are run in what looks like 15mm copper. I have seen speedfit tap connectors which look a lot simpler than attempting my first compression fitting. Therefore questions are:

Should I use the speedfit connector between 15mm copper and the replacement mixer taps?

Would I just need PTFE tape to connect the other end to the taps or would an olive still be required?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for speedy reply...

Sorry, What I mean is do I just screw the other end of the flexible connector to the taps as fitted to the new bath. (i.e. should I include any tape, compund etc.)

GRC - Tap connectors are normally supplied with a fibre washer, which goes into the connector, and hence between the flat internal surfaces of both the tap and the connector. I'm open to correction, but I reckon this is normally sufficient to make a good seal.

Do you have the flexible connectors already? If so, did they come supplied with the fibre washers? If not, sounds like a return trip to B&Q required ......

Unless you connect the tap connectors to the taps before installation, you'll need a basin wrench or similar to do them up in situ .... but it sounds like you'll be doing this, and just the pushfit ends of the flexibles when the bath is in.
