Putting down a patio. Advice needed.

Thanks guys, going to go it this weekend. What is the best way to get the slope right. Hard-core flat and then get the slope using the sand and cement mix? Or do I slope the hard core with the wacker? Then slab

I see everyone recomending to use a string line to get the gradient right but being a total diy novice i dont see how i could use that. I have a preexisting concrete base that i will slab over so i could stick a peg into the ground to use it

Put the string line on loose bricks. Just wrap the string around a brick, make the string line taught and have another brick the other end of the string. As long as the two bricks are the same this will give you an indication of the level. You need to add a line level to the string first though.
