I have a cracked 600mm 2 tap hole pedestal basin made by shires - no longer available) which needs replacing. Can I put a new basin on top of the existing pedestal?

Most basins are held to the wall by bolts and the pedestal just adds a bit of support, if the shape at the top is ok then it will work ok, or you might be able to add a bead of silicone that you allow to dry so that it acts as a filler.
