Basin tap hole slightly oval in shape. Problem?

My new basin arrived and i note that the tap hole is not quite round and wonder if this is a problem; haven’t currently got a tap to test it with. As per attached picture, the hole at its narrowest point is just under 34 mm. I wonder if this is going to be okay?

Bristan 1901 taps - few months after fitting are dripping, fixes? alternatives?

Hi all, I recently switched out the originally installed Bristan 1901 taps (which were probably as old as the house - 20 odd years) with some newer versions as they had started to make awful noise when used and started to stick, all went well enough and the new taps worked fine (although the...

    Fit Semi-recessed basin to Corian

I’ve been looking at various basins to fit on a Corian worktop and I note that many require affixing with screws into the worktop. Thing is, you wouldn’t do this with Corian and so I wonder what the way forward is? Is it the case that you just rely on silicon, or perhaps you glue batons to the...

    Stone Basin Waste Issue

We have bought a stone basin for the bathroom and also bought a standard mushroom unslotted basin waste. The problem that we have is the recess cut out for the waste flange in the basin is large (measuring 70mm diameter) and therefore the waste has a large gap around it. Easier to see in the...

    Basin Tap Backnuts

Hi all, Need to check I am not being dim - I have had a Todays Tools TT Professional 1/2"-3/4" Tap Back Nut & 15-22mm Compression Fitting Set lying around for ages (one of those things that someone else was clearing out and I thought might be useful someday), however, when it comes to changing...

    Basin and isolation valve issues...

I'm just finishing up my bathroom. I'd planned to have right angle iso valves, but overlooked the fact the flathead bit to adjust them will be hidden behind the basin pedestal. I then thought I could use straight valves so I could adjust them from the side, but the Flexi pipes won't reach that...

New Boiler and new bathroom. What would you suggest in term of brands

I have been quoted for a new plumbing system with 2 option. Worcester and ATAG boiler system. What your thought about these 2 brands? Confused about fitting water feed to toilet/basin...

Hi I have speedfit plastic pipes in my wall which can come out at any height to suit fitting the basin and toilet. I planned to use a short section of copper pipe horizontally coming out of my right angle Speedfit, attached on a noggin, and then coming out of plasterboard just enough to...

Create a bed of silicone without it sticking

Hi, Apologies if this is the wrong forum - I'll repost in a different section if there is a more appropriate option. I am fitting a wall-hung basin to a tiled wall. It rocks very slightly due to either the basin or the wall not being perfectly flat. I am concerned this means that pressure is...

    Basin refuses to drain

Our bathroom basin sink just refused yesterday morning to drain away. After pulling apart all the units I managed to get to the trap, cleaned all the gunk, I then pulled apart all the pipes elbows etc and cleaned huge amounts of goo. All that was left was a short run (1 metre) to the waste...

Semi recessed basin for low shallow vanity unit

Hi all, Apologies if this is being posted under the wrong section. Couldn't decide whether it would be joinery or plumbing but have opted for this one. Anyway, I'm in the process of changing the sanitary ware in my bathroom. As part of the change I want to add a wall to wall vanity unit...
