Following my thread from earlier in the week I have had now had a price (£3700) for the rewire of my four bedroom house.

This includes a new CU as well.
Replacing all existing sockets about 25 + extra 5 new ones
rewire of all lights in each room.
Install of a separate switch in the house for a pond pump.
Install of two sec lights at back and side of house.
replacement of spot lights in bathroom with new compliant ones.
wiring to boiler.
plastering
testing and paperwork.

One thing that struck me is the length of time required for the work.
A week of chasing and wiring, a week for plastering and then 2.5 days for final stuff to include testing.
A spark and another guy (for the chasing and lifting on the job).
I'll be pulling up carpets before the come.

Is this reasonable or a rip off?
I'm based in the NW.

Is the house going to be occupied during the work as this will extend the completion time.

The price seems reasonable but like all big jobs you should get 3 quotes.

Are you sure thats a quote for a complete rewire?

To me, it sounds like it might be a quote for works which arn't quite a rewire... ie... replace CU, install extra circuits, rewire lighting, replace socket fronts

or it could just be ****y wording, but it is important to be clear on this so that you can compare like with like

And on a similar note, brands of materials to be used would also be something to get comfirmation on
