The house is in need of a full rewire but how much work is actual involved.

Do you guys still cut a chase in the walls (for light fittings and sockets etc) as i have seen some kind of rods that can thread the new wiring through the existing chase??

Also how much work is involved after the rewire? Can i re lay the existing carpets (if brought up to access wiring under floor boards) or will i have to buy new ones?

Just looking to budget what i will need to buy and redecorate etc etc

Cheers

it really depends on the particular house,

carpets in decent condition should be able to be lifted and relayed but if they are already falling apart then that may not be possible.

Existing conduits may be reused but sometimes they are too small, don't run in the right direction, are overfilled to the point the cables are stuck and of course conduit may not have been used in the first place.
