I have removed rads before but just wanted to double check a couple of things.
One side is a TRV and I do not have the decorating caps for it but it does have an "OFF" position. Its a mistral - picture.
I suppose that I am not to trust it actually being off and to fit a blanking cap but its a newbuild house and they have not left any caps so does this trv not come with them from new because it does actually turn off ?

Also on the other side (stupid question time ) there is a drain off valve, if I close off the lockshield can I then drain the rad through the drain off. Or does the lockshield cut the rad off but the drain off will be the system ?

Don't bother draining the rad.
Close the valves at both ends drip tray or towel under valve.
Loosen valve to rad connection. You'll loose a bit of water but not much.
Have a compression stopend (minus nut and olive) ready.
Pop the valve off and seal rad tail with the stopend.
Repeat other end.
Remove rad and empty outside.
If the rad is off for a while, its safest to cap the valves.

Thanks for the tip.
How will the stop end stay on I don't remember them being a tight push on fit
Have a compression stopend (minus nut and olive) ready.
Pop the valve off and seal rad tail with the stopend.

The stopend will screw into the nut and olive left captive on the rad tail

I already have the olive ones and have just brought a couple of blanking caps that have the rubber washer in them for capping off the valves for extra safety.
