I have run a 2.5mm cable from the CU for 2 sockets about 3 metres away.

Can I put a 20amp junction box in halfway down that cable and run 2 spurs off that? 1 spur supplying 2 double sockets (bedroom use - lamp/clock radio) and 1 spur for 2 double sockets in the kitchen (toaster/kettle/oil monitor).

The junction box I am using is getting crowded with 4 cables in it. I havent gone live with this method yet.

Thanks in advance.

I never understand people's fascination with junction boxes.

I think you will find you have perfectly good connection points just 1.5m away.

Incidentally, to what have you connected this circuit in the consumer unit?

Its connected to a 20amp fuse on the CU.

I was just wondering if it was possible because the point the 2.5mm comes through a wall is right above one set of sockets.

Also, the original owners had a double socket running off a lighting circuit so I have removed that 'feature' and put it on a circuit that has 2 sockets on.

Basically I wanted to know if it was possible or not.

That's good.

Yes, it will be fine.

You could connect the new cable to one of the the sockets or the fuse or use a junction box if you must.
It must remain accessible for inspection.

Typically you would use a 30 amp junction box for 2.5 mm2 cables.

I would not recommend a 20 amp junction box for all those cables, so get a 30 amp one.

Hager do a maintenance free one which may solve the problem if it's unaccessible.
