Hello,

I have a single socket spur taken from the ringmain in the kitchen out to the conservatory. The conservatory currenly has no other sockets fitted, so to fit 3 double sockets, I was thinking of replacing the single socket with a 13amp FCU (with a 13amp fuse fitted) then connecting 3xdouble sockets in a radial circuit. The problem is that I want to fit 1 double socket on one wall and 2 x double sockets on the wall opposite - The only way I can think of of connecting all the cables from each side of the room to the FCU is via a 13amp junction box.

So, the power will come from the kitchen through the FCU down to the junction box, then split and 1 cable going to 1 side of the room and 1 to the other. Is this safe to do?

Why use a junction box - just a cable from back of FCU to the first double socket and daisy chain your other sockets from there. As long as the FCU protects the spur no problem with any number of sockets as its limited to 13A by the FCU.

The reason is that 1 socket is on one wall and the other 2 are on a different wall with the FCU in the middle.

I've been reliably informed that I can take 2 cables out the FCU and run 1 to 1 wall and 1 to the other wall without the need of a junction box.

I've done that before. Use a deep box. And dont use MK unswitched FCUs - all the terminals are close together, makes it very tricky.
