Hi we have the above wiring in our house. Its on 6mm cable and a 30a mcb.
Can we spur off any where to create more sockets or has this set up reached its max. I think its a radial circuit but we have a couple of junction boxes, i thought radial was 'daisy chain' like and im pretty sure its not a ring set up.
Would our best option be to reiwire and put a ring a set up in as we need more sockets or to convert the radial to a ring and then spur?
Should we stick to the 6mm cable and if so what sort of area would this cover?
Any Help would be really appreciated (sorry for the poor picture) :D

Sorry, but it is really important. Have to be certain.

Do you mean this?

Or a cable with external dimensions of 13.5mm x 7mm?

The 6mm² refers to the cross-sectional-area of the L & N conductors.

a sheath thickness of 6mm would make it a 2.5mm csa cable not 6mm

is the grey sheath 6mm thick?

You haven't got a ring final circuit drawn there.
If it is meant to be a ring final circuit you appear to have jbs which support two spurs which is not allowed.
Where is your RCD?

As we now know it is, indeed, 2.5mm² cable -

It would appear to be a broken Ring Final Circuit and so could present a danger as it is on a 30A fuse.

It would be best if it could be rewired and all the sockets (or most) incorporated into the ring.
In the meantime you should replace the fuse/mcb with 20A to be safe.

Hiya its not drawn as its not there, we had a 30 ma rccb fitted recently and its next to the c/u.

Thank you we have just done that

Hi thanks for the help we have decided to get the house rewired by a electritian as we dont like the whole idea of snip here join here make that into a spur and ring that etc we are having the lot done, better safe than sorry lol.
Kind regards

Theoretically they could still be used, but in practice it is more hassle than it's worth. It is much easier just to install a normal radial or ring circuit.
