My house is with a microbore system, my bathrooms standard radiator has a suspicious rusty patch along the beading at the bottom and while its not leaking yet Im expecting to discover a swimming pool of water has developed under it at any time !

we dont 'really' use or need the full heat of this rad in the bathroom and wanted to change this for a towel ladder radiator - but what do I need to do to fit this to a microbore system ?

please see pics attached...

I also have the problem that all my radiators are either off (knob turned fully clockwise) or on extremely hot! (knob turned any amount anit-clockwise) ? how do i balance these rads with microbore? I wondered if I removed the small cap nxt to the control knob - i could adjust a screw in that or something? am I on the right track ?

would a replacement radiator just be a 'standard' fitting type - or do I need a special kind of 'microbore rad' ?

yes the screw is under the cap

if you are going to change the rad change the valves as well ;)

thanks ... whats the valvues? or where are they I mean.

is there any reason/way to convert this section of the system to 'standard' type? or is that too much fuss for something reletively simple?

so I can simple switch off both of those pipes (via the knob and screw under cap - unscrew that nut going into the rad and take the whole rad off... and replace with the new - tighten up, open the knob and screw and bleed the radiator till its full ? that right ?

would extending the pipes up the wall and into a high-up towel radiator involve draining the CH system? i suppose so.

the valve is what is in your pic

yes

wouldnt I need to drain the whole system to change the valvue ?why should I need to change it ?

most towel rails now are fed from the bottom not the side
so unless you can bend the pipework to suit

and make sure you get the plastic tube out of the rad ;)
