can anyone advise how to taker this radiator off??

when you undo the valve there will be a plastic tube connected to a port in the isolation valve, make sure you connect that back into the port when refitting the radiator or it wont work, turn the white plastic cap down then remove the round brass cap next to it, under that is a screw head you need to screw that down, that will isolate the radiator from the system but the radiator will still be full of water so you will need towels or similar to contain the water unless you can drain the whole system, then just undo the large nut then pull out the insertion tubing and you will then be able to lift the rad off, but as already said you must insert the plastic tube when refitting or the rad wont work

once it has stopped turning the radiator is isolated, if you want to make sure , open the bleed screw on the rad and make sure the water stops running after a few mins

very common they are very old valves and the screw gets worn very easily, if you dont want to drain down you will have to bung your F&E tank or use a freezer kit, personally I would remove the valve completely and replace with two valves one at each end of the rad

got one rad off but the other screw to turn off water flowing is still ceased.

I have covered it in WD40 still not joy don't know wot I am going to do with it!!!!:mad:

No point getting angry with it... It won't care . If it's had it, it's had it. Drain down and change it to 2 x standard valves as mentioned already by another tradesman (clue there) and do any other rads that have this set up whilst you're at it. Get rid of those orrible valves and get proper flow through your rads. :)

Radiator off, got frezzing kit and a 3/4 inch block nut all good!!

Approx how much wud it be to replace 2 radiators with standard connections??

Any plumbers on here know where to get single panel radiators 2400mm * 400mm?

that's what the 2 radiators I took of are and I was going to replace them with newer ones!!

mr central heating is your best bet but as you are putting new valves either end doesnt matter if you cant get an exact size match

just when you on ianmcd, the last rad I took off the black rod fell into rad.

so there is not point putting it back on as it will not work is that correct?

Check out Heatline eco compact radiators, fitted some of their 400 high ones before (y)

edit, dont know if they are stocked local to you,so taking ianmcd advice tto alter pipes may be the way ahead.
