I've searched everywhere for an answer to this but no luck.
I have a radiator that is hot at the top but cool at the bottom, tried bleeding but to no effect.
Any ideas

Could be sludged up ? One option is to take the radiator outside and flush it through with a hosepipe, but how effective this is may depend on how badly it's sludged up.

You can also buy chemical treatments to introduce into the whole system that will help, although I'm not sure what the risks are with breaking sludge up and spreading it around the whole system - be sure to follow the instructions properly if you try this and ensure that the system is properly flushed out afterwards.
