Hi looking for some opinions, we’re building a raised patio area 5ft high as we’ve had window replaced at the back of the house replaced with sliding doors. The drop is just over 5 feet.
The builder has suggested the best way to do this is, as per the picture, rows of walls - breeze blocks - with a wall as the facing, I hardcore or anything g to be used and then just lay concrete council slabs on top, before laying the slabs of our choice on top of those, likely sandstone.
They say this is better than adding crushed stone and compacting. The walls are built on a base of concrete and he plans to add an air brick for ventilation, there’s also an air vent on the external wall of the property but not visible in the pictures.
Is this a safe and acceptable way to build the patio up? Having thought about it and researched online I can’t find anything which recommends this type of build for a similar project.
Cheers
