Random loss of TV signal

I've been getting issues with BBC1 and 2.

The picture will pixelate then sometimes recover, but more often than not will disappear completely and the screen will show Signal Loss.

But other non Beeb channels are tickety-boo.

The TV in question is the LG that used to be in our lounge, where it played the same trick.

Between this and the fact that the BBC1 app regularly shuts down and restarts because of a lack of memory, means I have fallen out of love with it big time!

Good point. I believe it is RG6 (copper coated steel core/'foam' insulation/aluminium foil & braided copper screen) but TLC don't provide a spec for this product.
Oh dear. Probably the worst choice possible. At least it's indoors and not being used for DC power to an amplifier. RF loss wise it's perfectly OK.

My gut says a boiler stops firing with a big splat (gas valve/oil burner pump) and then 20 s later the circulating 'over-run' pump cuts out with a smaller splat... Or something similar with failed / inadequate suppression. Perhaps a Saniflo macerator toilet only used at that time before bed?

It could be happening outwith your viewing hours too - but you just don't switch on and watch this TV earlier?

Would be better in a separate thread?
LCN 1 & 2 - SD? Watch 101 and 102 in HD instead. (HD mux also carries ITV1, C4 and C5 HD).

Prompted by that, I've just switched to 101, whilst we were on a BBC North program - It showed it in HD, when I've tried it before, it simply showed a banner, and no program content, until the national BBC came back on - so I've avoided using the HD channels generally.

Appreciate (now) that RG6 isn’t great but unfortunately it’s what is commonly available from even electrical wholesalers like TLC.

Your boiler start up scenario is exactly as I imagined but the fault occurs when the boiler is switched off, a.ong with all other internal sources of interference. I thought the suggestion of outside light sensors being triggered by animals (foxes and badgers in our case) was a likely one as well and switched that all off for a couple of nights to no avail. And no macerator!

Thanks all for comments about picture quality/ weak channels etc. The annoying thing is that outside the random blinks, the picture and sound are pin point perfect! As I would expect from the latest offering from Sony.
