Hi
The flame failure light comes on on my CSI 85 mainly in windy conditions when using either hot water or central heating, when weather is calm always seems to work ok.
Any advice very welcome...... :?

This is a relatively simple fault for anyone who is familiar with this model.

However it needs a gas registered engineer. Ravenheat may be able to suggest someone in your area.

Hi Tony
Thanks for your quick reply, I have ordered a new aps as I read on the 85A they tended to stick, hope i've done the right thing?

Oh dear!

Here we have someone intent on DIY gas repairs!

This site does not encourage DIY gas and the only advice to give you is to get an engineer!

If you wont point someone in the right direction for (as you say a simple repair) why bother to comment? I have no intention of touching the gas side, but I think I can fit a small bracket, I know only to well the dangers of gas as (my father who is no longer with us) worked for West Midlands Gas for over 30 years. But point taken.

I've just been reading posts on another site, "Water Systems" dosn't like you do's he! I must agree, some of your comments make you sound like a stuffed shirt.
you never give any useful advice, most of us are just ordinary working people asking for simple advice, most of us could replace a ch sensor or other simple tasks without you keep mentioning Corgi and having to pay £££ when it is not necessary.

With all due respect, Tony gives a lot of good advice on all sorts of CH /boiler problems, I (and most others on here) would agree on the - if it's gas/flue/sfety etc. related get a RGI. An APS is safety related so RGI is best advice.

Watersystems aka drdrivel aka bigburner aka etc, has been banned repeatedly from this site for pretending to be a RGI, giving dangerous advice, and stirring up trouble; it is a troll.

you never give any useful advice,
It would appear 197 expressly disagree with you.

And in this case, he is certainly right again; what you plan to do is the job of a RGI, as it is safety critical.

go post on screwfux then i'm sure one of the resident clowns will tell you how to risk your life

tonys attitude might be a bit off on occasion but the advice is good

That did not apply to my question, he told me to get an engineer!
I fitted an aps this afternoon, it took no more than 20 mins. any average diy'er could do simple jobs like this in complete safety.

And how can you be sure that the boiler was reassembled correctly and is now working in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications or is even safe?

Tony
