RCBO's. Do they do overload and short circuit faults?

I am putting an RCBO in my tiny CU to cover any earth faults on the sockets. Do they cover for both overload and short circuit faults. (earth faults obviously incl.)
That's magnetic and thermal reactions as Spark123 told me.

Yes they do.

RCBO = Residual Current Breaker with Overload protection
