Hi,

I am going to get an electrician to install the thermostat for my electric underfloor heating in my ensuite. I think the requirement is that the thermostat should be connected via a RCD fused spur, but a normal FCU can be used if the ringmain is protected by an RCD. My main fuse box is protected by an RCD for all my ringmains, does the meet the requirement or does there have to be a separate RCd for each individual ringmain.

thanks for any advice

Aslong as there is an RCD somewhere in the circuit, that is sufficient.

What you have sounds OK to me.

Thanks that great no need for an RCBO or a RCD FCU then, that saves some expense and also the fact that RCD FCU's are pretty ugly and it would have to be situated in my bedroom.
