I've had a long-standing battle with a particular crack on an internal wall that keeps shifting. No matter how I fill, sometimes the cracks opens and sometimes it moves the other way and 'pushes' the filler out the crack upwards a little to create a raised crack. The wall has been re-skimmed since I've owned it but obviously, the crack re-appeared though after time. it's only a couple of mm wide at most.
Obviously know now it's not subsidence, just moving in an out as it's an old house (maybe with the weather) but no matter what I do, you can always see this crack. I've attached a pic of the original, when I removed the previous owner's wallpaper and then how it looks now. Not sure whether it's an expansion joint, or whether 1930 houses even had this feature built in?
I recently filled with an Anti-Crack Acrylic but over time I've used and tried most other fillers and it still re-appears. Sealing with Zinsser B-I-N Primer Sealer Paint and sanding appropriately. It's flush and flat when I finish but then moves eventually.
Does anyone know what I can try to finally get rid of this thing? Should I get it bonded then re-plastered over the top? Not sure what options I have left and it's starting to reach my DIY capacities in terms of knowledge. I'd pay someone to get rid of it permanently if I knew who to ask (plasterer, builder, painter, decorator odd job man?!).
