What is the best way to go about re fixing plasterboard that has become loose? Literally every piece in my hallway up the side of my stairs has become loose since I pulled the handrail off to fit a new one.

I was thinking maybe drilling holes at intervals and filling with expanding foam...any other ideas?

TIA

I don't know whether that would work or not,,, although I can see the reasoning behind it. Whenever i've worked on a dot and dab wall that has come loose in places,, (bouncing), i've always drilled into the blocks behind, and then fitted plugs and screws with plastic washers on. They're easily covered when the wall is plastered over.
I've never had the problem that you have though, where so much of it has come loose. Modern building methods eh?? shocking really!!!

I went out and bought some expanding foam and used it before I read your reply....worked a treat thank god! :)

when did you apply it !!
it can still blow several hours later if you use to much

Sunday afternoon....so well dry now, I know it probably hasn't actually adhered the plasterboard back to the thermoshite but it's probably pushed it up against the skirting/staircase. Will do for me!
