Reasonable quote?

Good luck with it.

If this is your first house, remember heating and hot water are the heart. A cold house and a cold shower/bath is pure misery.

This is an investment to last the next 15/20 years if done properly. Don't be suckered by cheap quotes and cheap products.

Get 3 or 4 estimates. Try and get a neighbour to recommend a trusted local. Ask for references.

Don't necessarily go for the cheapest or the most expensive; and don't let online reviews sway your decision too much. They are usually biased and paid for on the sly.

Shiny vans and slick uniforms mean next to fook all. Some of the best fitters can be knuckle draggers.

It's not really worth arguing with the barrack room DIY gas 'expert'. Let him carry on, we were never going to get his work anyway. When he sells his house, the new owner will probably throw his work in the skip and buy new, seen it many times.

My advice to the OP is to go with the installer who gives the educated answers to your questions; if it is a mains pressure system such as a combi, make sure he/she bothers to measure the water flow into the property.

Look at the quote; what is the make of magnetic filter used? The make of the radiators, the exact model of room thermostat?

If the items are listed just generically, you'll be getting the cheapest stuff they can pick up.

Finally, what form of cleansing are they going to do? Is it a Powerflush or just a system 'flush'. Massive difference in time, investment, and potential boiler longevity between the two.

When you have factored in these differences, you should know the contractor to use.
