Hiya, just about to lay reclaimed bitumen-backed oak parquet. Half the install is on new screed that is perfectly dry (and soon to be bonded with Lecol 280), the rest is on 18mm ply. Will be using Lecol 5500 adhesive throughout.

Should I prime the ply with PVA, etc or just leave it untreated? Worried about the cash expenditure for yet another expensive bonding product.

Many thanks Andy

Hi,

you should be fine without priming the ply.

you also may want to consider a PU based adhesive, Lecol 5500 really smells.

Ta, bought 3 pots of the muck already! I've had 2 weeks of 5,000 bitumen coated oak blocks reeking through the house as it climatises, surely can't be much worst...
