Hi everyone

We're thinking of putting an offer in for a house, but it needs some work doing and I wanted to pick anyone's brains who's done something similar.

The layout is a bit of a pain because you have to go through the second bedroom to get to the bathroom. If we bought we'd like to change the reconfiguration so there is a corridor upsatirs that leads to the bathroom and the two bedrooms.

Access to upstairs is by a staircase between the living room and kitchen diner. If we reverse the staircase then we can put in a corridor upstairs that goes straight to the bathroom. The house is turn of the last century (1910 ish)

Has anyone ever done this? If so how much does it cost and what do I need to consider?

Thanks :)

are your stairs enclosed on all 4 sides floor to ceiling apart from doorways

Hi

Yes, it's enclosed, apart from the entrance at the bottom and a small square 'landing' at the top that leads to 2 bedrooms - it's a typical 2 up 2 down

cheers

the problem you have is how do you get your stair in without removing a wall???

because the strings [stairs sides] are around 10" deep you cannot insert on the side and manover in then turn flat as theres no room unless you make the stairs around 5" narrower than nessisery
even thats assuming you have a window or door in line with the stairs
