Recreating this bathroom style - furniture panel

OK, so this is the look I am hoping to achieve. Will be boxing in the plumbing like this, full width of the bathroom, which is about 2.35m

Would a furniture panel like this be suitable for the shelf? Or is something better recommended? Maybe something glossier?

Doing most of it myself so got to keep it simple - will get room plastered, then have tiler do the shower area. Then me decorating etc.

yes for diy that's probably a good idea
because if you need to cut it down you can put the cut edge at the back
