refitting outside tap

im refitting and replacing an outside tap ( with check valve). the underground pipework is black plastic stuff, is this the same as the new blue mdpe and what are the best fittings to use

Back plastic pipe is imperial & blue mdpe is in metric sizes. Black plastic also has a few different classes of pipe with C & D being the most common, if you have a meter or so of pipe exposed you should find some writing on the pipe telling you the size & class of pipe.

thanks for that, do u have to use specific connections for the different type of pipe or is there a one fits all
