So what? They were mainly women and children, not fit young solo males. They had a genuine reason to claim asylum?

I suspect that's one thing, whether at local council or government level, they wouldn't get very far with. I don't want illegal migrants here any more than many other folk, however neither do I want them freezing their balls off in tents in the depths of winter.

And when it's pointed out to them not all migrants in France are in tents, they're stumped as to how to respond.

I agree.

The cost and the use of hotels for housing migrants is a big worry, I wish there was a solution
but the idea of housing them in tents is not helpful

Surely we should be pushing to get them processed as fast as poss and deport the ones who fail
And we should be looking at these businesses that get these hotel contracts -where is the money going


Politicians and the media should stop using it as a political football and start working on getting it sorted out.........If the new Reform party councillors did get on with the work of sorting it out in a serious way, I would support them, I dont support the rhetoric and dog whistles

I have been thinking about whether something similar could happen here. But I don't think we can generally do things as quickly here. A lot of stuff needs to be done by legislation. And even if you have enough MPs to pass controversial laws, there is still the HoL.

If you possessed a brain you would realise Ukraine hasn’t been persecuting it’s people, it is being attacked by a foreign invader

The men have stayed to fight

Places like Syria, the people in power have been fighting, bombing the population and persecuting them.
Only a total ficko would try and make the comparison in terms of “fit young men”

Try using yer brain and stop embarrassing yourself FFS.

So the fit young men leave their families for how long before they could bring them here, years? I wouldn't be leaving my wife and children in a country that persecutes their people, would you?

In tents in France , well if they are lucky they get a tent

Failing that ? and any one who has an issue with a tent can step up to the plate and make there house / room available ;) :giggle:

Would not bother me as long as she is over 18
Below say ?? 45 ?? And fit I have room at my place taking into consideration all of the above

Not bothered about nationality or religion
