Reliable shower brand

Two choices.
Cheapo affairs such as Triton for well under £100. When it breaks or inevitably is stuffed with limescale, buy a new one.
Mira ATL which will be £400+ When that breaks or inevitably is stuffed with limescale, pay for repairs. Parts and repairs likely to cost more than the entire cheapo shower, but there you go.
Indeed - and I don't think it's difficult to see which of those approaches would be the cheaper over a number of years - given that, even ignoring the (probably high) cost of the repairs, one could probably replace the cheapo one half a dozen times for the same total cost of the just the initial outlay on the Mira one.

I would therefore personally feel that it comes down to whenever or not one feels that gthe Mira one is 'better enough' (in whatever sense) to justify the (probably considerably) increased cost - and I strongly suspect that I would personal decide that t was not justified. However, it's a pretty 'personal' thing.

Well that's bizarre - I got an alert to say you'd replied:

and that was because I was subscribed by virtue of having posted in this thread, and your reply looks like it's an answer to the question I asked you.

But my post has gone ...

Anyway - I see what you mean - it was tripping at too low a temp, not at 75°. It may have been too low, but surely 75° is too high? That's well into scalding temperature

Indeed. Your post was there, and I 'liked' it, because it was asking the same question as I was about to ask Andy - but, as you say, that message of yours has now vanished. Goodness knows why!

Quite so. I think temperature limiting usually is (should be) about 50° in order to remove the risk of scalding. As you say, 75° would be far too high, because water at that temp could cause serious scalds in seconds.

There is another resetable trip at a lower temperature.

Anyway this 75c sensor rattled. (And made contacts join).

It was suggested that when the shower was turned off, temp. In the tank increased and caused failure. Some brands run on apparently to expel hot water.
