Hello, I want to completely remove a redundant light switch which I intend to tile over. Another switch in the same room works fine.

Thanks for your help

Geoff

Wired a bit oddly, did it ever work as a true 2 way system??

Send a picture of the other switch as well, so we can give you the best answer faster.

It's likely you won't just be able to tile over that wiring.

Hello, correct it has never worked as a two way system, was like that when we moved in. Below is the other switch which does work.

We can get this to work CORRECTLY, by wiring the first switch correctly, if you'd like to keep both switches??

Yes we can advise how to make this work as you wish, the problem will be having inidentified live cables in the wall. Is this upstairs or can you get access to the space where these come out of the wall above?

Unfortunately it’s in the kitchen downstairs. I think it’s probably best just to wire it correctly and leave it. Tile around it etc. ideally I would like to remove it

To remove that switch, both of the cables to that switch will also need to be removed and most importantly joined together, otherwise the other switch won't work.
The most likely option is a maintenance free junction box in the ceiling, installed either via lifting a floorboard in the room above, or cutting a hole into the ceiling and repairing afterwards.

The switch or switches that will be kept need to have an earth connection to the metal plate, currently it's only connected to the box in the wall.
