Hi, I am replacing the pop-up waste on a small basin in my toilet but parts of the old rubber seal are now stuck.

Is there a simple way of removing this from the basin without me damaging anything?

Thanks in advance.

A small gouge chisel would help on curved sections. Or you could grind the end of an old screwdriver blade to make a DIY gouge/scraper.

Ignore Harry, that would scratch the basin, just use a Stanley blade held at an angle. It will clean it up in no time.

As per Andy.
Stanley blade (not in the knife/holder)
Or I use the foil backed razor blades that go in window scrapers.

I took the advice of Madrab and used Meths but this did not remove the rubber marks.

However, the white spirit removed it instantly.

Thanks everyone it is now sorted.
