Remove tap handle

There looks like two holes either side of the spindle have you tried putting pin nosed pliers in the two holes and removing the disc looks like it may need a special spanner like angle grinders do.
 
On second thoughts that may just be the holes the tap handle locates in:(

Yes the two holes accepted to pins that were on the tap handle. There is then a 3rd hole in between that has a screw up into the handle. From what I see the handle could only be removed by removing the disk and exposing the underside and also the tap valve.:(
