Fitting a new kitchen and ring main. I need to remove a double socket. Its feed from the fuse box from under the floor and goes up the wall to the bedrooms Can I join the cables together and then bury them behind the plaster if so what connections do I use

Ideally you should replace the cable, not join it,

But if you really can't then use crimps (applied with a proper ratchet crimper, not the cheapo squeeze-n-hope type sold for car use).

Then heat-shrink tubing over each join.

Then self-amalgamating tape over the whole lot.

And since you will then have a buried cable with no visible accessory on the wall to alert people to its presence, you must ensure that it complies with the regulations for concealed cables:

Your LABC will probably want to inspect the join, and the protection or depth if appropriate, before you plaster it over. Or are you not notifying them?

Thanks for the reply I will lift the floorboards and make join there with new cable then move the socket up to were I need it.
