Removing cooker switch

If you fit a normal 47mm double back box you will be able to fit a cooker switch, a blanking pate or a double socket to it. Personally I would go for the double socket if you don't want a cooker switch.

Pick a brand of double socket with nice big terminals (I would go for MK myself) and cap off the outgoing wires with some terminal block.

As a technicality, if the present accessory (which has one socket outlet) is replaced by a double socket, it might be said that this constitutes 'a new socket' (at least, a new socket outlet) - which would invoke a requirement for RCD protection. If the circuit is already RCD protected, that would obviously not be an issue, but if there is currently no RCD protection, it may be a consideration worth bearing in mind.

Kind Regards, John
