I wish to replace some grey (3rd gen) Hep2O connectors by 15mm service valves with compression joints, prior to fitting new taps. I gather that all should be well so long as I can fully remove the Hep2O fittings.

Is there a 'best' method for removing the grab rings, or am I better off just using side cutters to cut the rings off?

Any advice much appreciated.

Are these the ones with the green plastic grab wedge ? If so you can gently walk them along the pipe.
If they are the older all metal grab rings, carefully cut them off,

Many thanks for that advice, which makes perfect sense.

Final question: Should I replace the pipe inserts with the latest stainless steel ones, or should the existing ones be OK for compression?
