Removing honeywell thermostat on new Hive system

Sorry for this not being a new subject, but i wondered if anyone could lend an insight into my issue, please.

Boiler man installed a Hive system not so long ago and we were told that the old honeywell thermostat could be removed from the wall but that this usually creates issues and it is much simpler and cheaper to leave it on the wall and set to the max temperature so that it does not interfere with the new Hive system. Not ideal, but everything is in working order.

However, ideally we would like the old unit removed and that is where we would most likely stick the hive thermostat on the wall. Removing the Honeywell thermostat myself seems a little tricky. From a collection of threads I read to connect the live and switched supply wires, then to isolate the neutral and it should be good to go. I popped the front off of the thermostat to have a look and i was greeted by this:

So it seemed to be the red (live) and yellow (switch live) wires to join. isolate the black and leave the earth.

Out of interest i had a look at the supply to the Hive receiver and found this:

My question (I finally got here) is, is it a coincidence that there are also a yellow and red wire on the right hand side of the Hive receiver unit, or will these likely run to the Honeywell thermostat in the other room? if so, would it be better to also take action with the wires in this unit as well as the honeywell?

Yeah, it will be a coincidence. So, join the red and yellow at the thermostat end, safely terminate the neutral and earth (not together) and then fit the Hive thermostat in it's place.
